You would think that there is a central place where “gluten-free” certificates are recorded or stored, but no, nothing like that exists in South Africa. As I understand it, the certificate remains between the testing company and the food manufacturer.

If you have any doubts over a “gluten-free” food product, as a consumer you have the right to ask the food manufacturer for proof of their certification.
